Articles 36 and 88-2 (checked 2026.10.29) · "2025 Visa Guide for Foreign Investors" (January 2025, KOTRA)A late move report is subject to a penalty fee (beomchikgeum), not a fine (gwataeryo). For a job change, the fine starts at 100,000 KRW depending on how late you are. The later you report, the higher the amount.
If you report a job change (workplace change report) late
If an E-1 to E-7 skilled worker changes companies and does not report within 15 days, you must pay a fine.
- Less than 3 months: 100,000 KRW
- 3 months or more but less than 6 months: 300,000 KRW
- 6 months or more but less than 12 months: 500,000 KRW
- 1 year or more but less than 2 years: 1,000,000 KRW
- 2 years or more: 2,000,000 KRW
If you report other changes to your registration details, such as your workplace, late (within 15 days), the fine is 100,000 KRW for less than 3 months, 300,000 KRW for 3 to 6 months, 500,000 KRW for 6 months to 1 year, and 1,000,000 KRW for 1 year or more. Depending on the case, the amount can be reduced or increased by up to half.
If you report a move (change of residence report) late
You must report within 15 days of the day you move. If you are late, it is a violation that falls under a fine of up to 1,000,000 KRW. Usually, it is handled by paying a penalty fee (beomchikgeum) at the immigration office. The actual amount is set by how late you are and how many times you have broken the rule.
⚠️ Things to watch out for
Some visas, like E-9, are visas that require permission before you change workplaces. With these visas, if you work at a new company without permission, it does not end with a fine. You may face a heavier punishment. In this case, please get a consultation from the K-VISA AI administrative agent.
If you are late, report right away, even now, at HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr), the community service center (jumin senteo), or the immigration office. Check the exact amount once more by calling 1345.
