How do I report a change of residence online through HiKorea?

Based on: Seoul Metropolitan Government My Seoul Plus (Seoul Global Center), information by field, "Immigration and Stay > Report of Change of Residence" (checked 2026.10.29) · Korea Law Information Center, "Immigration Act" (출입국관리법) (Act No. 21857, in effect 2026.10.2), Articles 36 and 88-2 (checked 2026.10.29) · Ministry of Justice HiKorea, Civil Service Application > e-Civil Services guide and attachment "Accounts available for HiKorea e-Civil Services" (checked 2026.10.29)

Log in to HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr), choose "Report of Change of Residence" under e-Civil Services (전자민원), and apply with your own foreigner account. You can apply with your own account or an administrative agent's account. The deadline is within 15 days of the date you moved to the new residence.

What to prepare

  • Passport or Alien Registration Card (외국인등록증) — to confirm your identity.
  • A document that confirms your new address — for example, a lease contract, a housing provision confirmation, or a dormitory fee receipt.
  • HiKorea member account — sign up in your own name and log in.

Steps to apply

  1. Log in to HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr) within 15 days of the day you moved.
  2. Under e-Civil Services, choose the report of change of residence.
  3. Enter your new address and upload the address confirmation document.
  4. Submit, then check the result of your application.

There is no fee. Reporting a change of residence is free.

⚠️ Things to note

  • You can apply for e-Civil Services only on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. If your deadline ends on a weekend, apply early.
  • Some visa types may not be able to report online. In that case, report at the local Immigration Office (출입국·외국인청) or at the community center (주민센터, 행정복지센터) for your new address. Bring your Alien Registration Card.
  • If you miss the deadline, you may have to pay a fine.

If the online application does not work, go to a nearby community center or call the Foreigner Information Center (외국인종합안내센터) at 1345.
