How do I pay immigration fees? Where do I buy revenue stamps?

Based on: Enforcement Rule of the Immigration Act (출입국관리법 시행규칙) (Ministry of Justice Ordinance No. 1172, effective 2026.10.23.) · Enforcement Rule of the Immigration Act (Ministry of Justice Ordinance No. 1172, effective 2026.10.23.)

If you apply online at HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr), you pay by card, bank transfer, or mobile phone payment. If you apply in person at an immigration office, you pay with revenue stamps or electronic payment. Only the fee for issuing or reissuing an Alien Registration Card (35,000 KRW) must be paid in cash or with proof of a cash payment.

Ways to pay

  • Online application: Choose card, bank transfer, or mobile phone payment. The card or phone must be in your own name. Foreign cards are usually accepted only if they are VISA, Master, or JCB. If you apply online for an extension, change, or re-entry permit, the fee is reduced by 20%.
  • Visiting an immigration or foreigner office: Pay with revenue stamps (수입인지) equal to the fee amount, or with electronic money or electronic payment.
  • Alien Registration Card issuance or reissuance: Pay in cash or with proof of a cash payment.
  • Reporting a change of residence (address): It is free.

Where do I buy revenue stamps?

I cannot confirm where they are sold from the information I have. They are usually sold at a sales counter inside or near the immigration or foreigner office you will visit, or at a bank. Before you visit, call the immigration office in charge or 1345 and ask where they are sold. If you have an immigration visit reservation, leave extra time.

💡 Good to know

You must buy revenue stamps for exactly the same amount as the fee you owe. Common amounts are:

  • Extension of stay: 60,000 KRW
  • Change of status of stay: 100,000 KRW
  • Grant of status of stay: 80,000 KRW
  • Re-entry permit: single 30,000 KRW, multiple 50,000 KRW

Some cases, such as marriage immigrants (F-6), have different amounts, and some are exempt. Check once more before you apply that the amount is correct. For exact details, check HiKorea or the Foreigner Support Center (외국인종합안내센터) at 1345.
