Can I bring my family (spouse and children) to Korea on an E-9 (Non-professional Employment) visa?

Based on: Ministry of Justice (๋ฒ•๋ฌด๋ถ€) ใ€ŒVisa Civil Application Guide Manual by Status (์‚ฌ์ฆ๋ฏผ์› ์ž๊ฒฉ๋ณ„ ์•ˆ๋‚ด ๋งค๋‰ด์–ผ)ใ€ (as of 2026.10.19)

No. With an E-9 (Non-professional Employment) visa, your spouse and children cannot get an accompanying family visa (F-3). The accompanying visa (F-3) is open only to family members of people with certain statuses, from Culture and Arts (D-1) to Specific Activities (E-7). I could not find a basis that puts E-9 among these statuses that allow family accompaniment.

๐Ÿ’ก Good to know

  • E-9 is a program where you work for a set period and then return home. It is not a way to bring your family.
  • Your family may be able to visit separately as tourists or for a short stay. In that case, each family member must apply for a visa that fits the purpose of the visit. They cannot work in Korea.
  • Later, if you change to a status that allows family accompaniment, such as E-7-4 (Skilled Worker), you can look into inviting your family again. A spouse and minor children (who have no spouse) usually apply together with you. You need documents that prove the family relationship (marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc.).

โš ๏ธ Be careful

  • If your family enters on another visa and works, it can be illegal employment.
  • Status changes and invitations depend on your personal situation. If you are worried, use the K-VISA AI administrative agent consultation (the app's visa service).
