When can I apply to extend my E-9 (Non-professional Employment) stay, and what documents do I need?

Where to apply

• By rule, apply at the immigration office that covers your home address.¹
• You may also apply and be processed at the office covering your place of stay or workplace, or a nearby office. You can also make a visit reservation.¹

Basic documents

• Original passport and Alien Registration Card¹
• Application form for extension of stay and proof of residence¹
• Copy of the Employment Permit, copy of the Standard Labor Contract, and copy of the Business Registration Certificate¹

If you were re-employed (extension of employment period)

• Your employer applies for re-employment at the Employment Center (고용센터) and receives the 'Confirmation of Extension of Employment Period for Workers Whose Employment Period Has Expired'.¹
• You must attach this confirmation when applying to Immigration for an extension of stay.²
• After review, your stay can be extended up to 1 year and 10 months.¹
