How do I bring my family to Korea with a D-8 corporate investment visa?
Based on: Ministry of Justice (법무부), "Visa Application Guide Manual by Status (사증민원 자격별 안내 매뉴얼)" (as of 2026.10.19)The spouse and minor children of a D-8 visa holder can come on an accompanying (F-3) visa. This applies only to minor children who are unmarried. Inviting parents falls under a separate status (F-1-15), and its requirements are different.
Prepare these documents
This is for applying for a visa at a Korean diplomatic mission abroad (embassy or consulate).
- Basic documents (visa application form, passport, 1 photo, fee)
- Documents proving the family relationship — a marriage certificate for a spouse, a birth certificate for a child, etc. (original official documents from the home country)
- Documents proving the ability to support the family — the inviter's (D-8 holder's) certificate of employment, certificate of tax payment, etc.
- Letter of identity guarantee (신원보증서)
- Documents proving a residence, such as the place of stay in Korea
Official documents from the home country need three things. Attach a translator's certificate. Get an apostille if the country is a party to the convention. If it is not, get consular confirmation from a Korean diplomatic mission.
Steps
- Prepare your home country documents and get the translation and apostille (or consular confirmation).
- Apply for the accompanying (F-3) visa at the Korean diplomatic mission in your country of residence.
- Receive the visa, enter Korea, and complete the stay procedures.
💡 Good to know
- Among D-8 holders, high-value investors with an investment of 500,000 USD or more are exempt from the support ability (③) and residence proof (⑤) documents.
- The head of the mission may add or remove documents for the review.
- If family members already in Korea are changing status for humanitarian reasons (pregnancy, childbirth, child care, illness, etc.), a separate procedure applies. In this case, we recommend consulting an administrative agent (행정사).
First check the list of documents to submit at the mission in the country where your family lives. Check the exact details once more at HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr) or the Foreigner Help Center (외국인종합안내센터, 1345).
