Can I stay in Korea with my family on a D-10 job-seeking visa?

Based on: Ministry of Justice (법무부) "Guide Manual for Residence Applications by Status" (as of 2026.11.02) · Ministry of Justice (법무부) "Guide Manual for Visa Applications by Status" (as of 2026.10.19) · K-Visa practical reference material "Residence Practice Guidelines" (as of 2023.7.)

With a general job-seeking (D-10) visa, it is basically difficult to bring family (F-3). The dependent (F-3) status is given to the spouse and minor children of people who hold certain set statuses, from Culture and Arts (D-1) to Specific Activities (E-7). Job-seeking (D-10) is not on that list. So the family of a general D-10 holder can hardly enter with or change to dependent (F-3) status.

💡 Exception: Top-Tier Job-Seeking (D-10-T)

  • The Pre-Top-Tier Job-Seeking (D-10-T) visa allows accompanying visa issuance for a spouse and minor children.
  • The spouse must be a legal spouse. Same-sex spouses and common-law spouses are not included.
  • Children must be minors for whom the main visa holder has parental authority and custody. A spouse's child from a previous marriage must have a legal parent-child relationship through adoption or acknowledgment.
  • Inviting parents and inviting a domestic helper are not allowed under D-10-T.

⚠️ Things to note

  • While you are on a general D-10, there may be other ways for family to stay with you, such as a short-term visit. But this is not a long-term stay as a dependent.
  • If you find a job and change to a status such as E-1 to E-7, your spouse and minor children can then apply for dependent (F-3) status. If your goal is to live together with your family, it is realistic to prepare for the time you change status after getting a job.
  • Family relationship documents need a translator's confirmation and an apostille (or consular confirmation) on the official documents from your home country.

The answer depends on whether your visa is a general D-10 or D-10-T. If your case involves personal circumstances, check at the end with HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr) or the Foreigner Support Center (외국인종합안내센터, 1345), or use the K-VISA AI administrative agent consultation.
