Can E-7-4 skilled workers invite their family? What are the conditions?

Based on: Ministry of Justice (법무부) "Guidance Manual for Stay Civil Applications by Status" (as of 2026.11.02) · Ministry of Justice "Guidance Manual for Visa Civil Applications by Status" (as of 2026.10.19)

Yes, E-7-4 skilled workers can invite their family (spouse and minor children). But they must meet the Korean language requirement. If you received a temporary deferral of the Korean language requirement and do not meet it, you cannot invite your family.

Family members usually enter with an accompanying (F-3) status or receive a status of stay. The spouse and minor children of E-7 category holders are eligible.

Checklist of conditions for inviting family

  • Meet the Korean language requirement — You need TOPIK Level 2 or higher, completion of Level 2 of the Korea Immigration and Integration Program (사회통합프로그램), or a pre-assessment score of 41 or higher (placed in Level 3). Even with 41 points, if you are placed in Level 0, it is not accepted. A pre-assessment becomes invalid after 2 years.
  • If you received a deferral of the Korean language requirement (until 2026.12.31) — If you do not meet the Korean language requirement within 2 years, you cannot invite your family.
  • Eligible family — Spouse and minor children.

Documents the family must submit (based on an accompanying F-3 visa, usually prepared like this)

  • Basic documents (application form, passport, 1 photo, fee)
  • Proof of family relationship — Original official documents from the home country, such as a marriage certificate and children's birth certificates. A translator's confirmation is required. Countries in the Apostille Convention need an apostille. Countries not in the convention need consular confirmation from a Korean diplomatic mission.
  • Proof of ability to support living costs — The inviter's certificate of employment, tax payment certificate, etc. If a tax certificate is hard to get, other financial documents can replace it.
  • Letter of identity guarantee
  • Proof of residence (place of stay)

When family members already in Korea apply for a status of stay, they also submit the inviter's (main status holder's) Alien Registration Card.

⚠️ Points to note

  • The reviewing office (Korean diplomatic mission abroad or immigration office) may add or remove documents if needed.
  • If a family member submits false documents, the application will be rejected and later visa applications may be restricted.

First check your own Korean language requirement status (TOPIK or Korea Immigration and Integration Program level). Then confirm the final documents at HiKorea (hikorea.go.kr) or the Immigration Contact Center (외국인종합안내센터, 1345).
