When can I apply to extend my E-2 conversation instructor stay period, and with what documents?

The reference materials do not give the first day you can apply for an E-2 extension or a list of documents. Below are the general rules that were confirmed.

When to apply

• You must apply before your period of stay ends.²
• "How many days before expiry you can apply" was not confirmed in the materials. It is generally known that applications are accepted from 4 months before expiry, but you need to check on HiKorea (하이코리아).
• Processing time is 15 days in total for general cases and 60 days in total if an investigation is needed.³ It is best to apply early.

How to apply and the fee

• Apply on HiKorea (online) or by visiting the Immigration Office (출입국·외국인청) (office or branch office).³
• The general fee is 60,000 won.³

Documents

• The basic documents are the Integrated Application Form (통합신청서) (Form No. 34 attached), passport, Alien Registration Card (외국인등록증), and the fee.³
• Extra documents needed for E-2 (employment contract, employment-related documents, etc.) are listed separately in the guide manual for each stay status.⁴ I could not confirm the list in these materials.
